Overview
Máni is the first Danish-led space mission to be sent beyond Earth's orbit, designed to map the Moon's surface and characteristics with high-resolution images and detailed topographic maps. The satellite will be placed in a polar orbit around the Moon to support future crewed lunar missions and scientific research. The mission employs advanced shape-from-shading techniques developed by the Niels Bohr Institute to achieve topographic resolution of up to 20 cm per pixel, enabling detailed mapping of lunar surface properties, grain size, and roughness for in-situ resource utilization and sample-return missions.
