Overview
HOSPI is an autonomous delivery robot developed by Panasonic, first launched in 2013. It is primarily deployed in hospitals to transport medicine, medical samples, injections, and other items, allowing medical practitioners to focus on patient care. The robot uses hospital map data, coordinates with elevators and automatic doors via a network, and features various sensors to detect obstacles and avoid collisions. It includes an authentication tag system to prevent delivery errors, tampering, and theft. Multiple HOSPI units can relay information to a control center for real-time tracking. Expanded applications include a Mobile Signage variant for guidance and advertising in public spaces like hospitals and airports, and a Cargo variant for heavier loads (up to 60 kg). Optional features include a rotating head for greeting passersby, remote video communication, and joystick-based remote operation for surveillance.
