Overview

The ROGO Soil Sampling Robot is an autonomous agricultural robot designed for precision soil sampling. It integrates a Kubota base with custom robotic systems including a ground-referenced sampling arm, dual-antenna RTK GPS, and computer-controlled hydraulics to achieve consistent core depth within 1/8 inch, complete core extraction, and repeatable sample locations within 3 feet. The robot automates the entire sampling process including driving, coring, bagging, barcode labeling, and manifest printing to reduce human error to a 1 in 1,000 rate.

Flagship features

  • Designed for precision soil sampling to improve fertilizer application accuracy
  • Depth control system accurate within 1/8 inch; nutrient levels fluctuate 5-10% per 1/2 inch of depth
  • RTK-level GPS locates and records every core within 3 feet (91.44 cm)
  • Automated QR code tracking reduces sampling errors
  • Partnered with Mercer Landmark for farmer deployments
  • Trial results claim the robot is the only tool that did not misapply fertilizer due to sampling error
