Jibo
The first social robot for the home
Jibo, Inc. created Jibo, a social robot designed as a family companion and personal assistant. Standing 11 inches tall and weighing about 6 pounds, Jibo features facial recognition, natural language understanding, and speech recognition to interact with family members. The robot can take photos, deliver messages, tell stories, and run developer-created skills on an open platform. Founded by MIT roboticist Cynthia Breazeal, the company targeted the consumer home robotics market. Jibo was officially discontinued after the company closed its office in November 2018 and sold its assets to an investment management firm.
