Ein automatischer Roboter und Stacker ist heute die effizienteste Methode, um Einzelstücke auf Paletten jeder Größe zu palletisieren und sie von Paletten zu entfernen. Das Palletisieren kann leicht robotisiert werden, da es eine Reihe von sequenziell wiederholten Operationen gleicher Art ist, die leicht in ein Palletisierroboterprogramm geschrieben werden können. Der Stackerroboter kann leicht neu programmiert und neu konfiguriert werden, nicht nur von einem Stapelschema zu einem anderen, sondern auch von einem Produkttyp zu einem anderen, wenn die Greif- und Hebekapazität zulässt. Palletisierroboter sind in dieser Hinsicht absolut universell. Die Arbeit des Stackerroboters besteht darin, Waren von einem Zufuhrband aufzunehmen und gemäß dem Palletisierschema zu platzieren. Nachdem eine vorgegebene Anzahl von Objekten gestapelt wurden, werden die Paletten weiter entlang des Förderbands zu einem automatisierten Palettenumhüller verschoben.
