Overview
Photon Matrix is a portable laser-based mosquito elimination device. A LiDAR module detects flying insects and gauges size, distance and orientation within about 3 milliseconds, then a galvanometer-steered laser targets them; the maker reports a rate of up to 30 mosquitoes per second, without chemicals. A millimeter-wave radar scans for larger objects and suppresses the laser when a person or pet is detected. The device is calibrated to objects 2-20 mm moving under 1 m/s. As of 2026 it is a functional prototype offered through crowdfunding on Indiegogo, in Basic (3 m range) and Pro (6 m range) editions.
