Overview
JD's Autonomous Delivery Robot 4.0 is a Level-4 autonomous driving vehicle designed for public road use without human interaction. It operates in Changshu, China, delivering parcels autonomously from JD’s delivery stations to residential compounds and office buildings. The robot plans its own routes based on parcel addresses and notifies recipients via messages or phone calls with verification codes for package pickup. It features a low-power consumption arithmetic logic unit, consuming only 10% of the industry average, equivalent to a standard lightbulb. The robot was deployed in Wuhan during the COVID-19 pandemic, traveling over 6,800 kilometers and delivering more than 13,000 packages in 107 days. JD's cloud simulation platform enhances its safety by analyzing historical operations data to predict behavior in various traffic scenarios.
