Paexo Back

Built by Ottobock · Germany

Overview

The Paexo Back is a passive industrial exoskeleton designed to relieve the lower back during lifting tasks in logistics and warehousing. It transfers load from the shoulders to the thighs via a mechanical energy storage system that absorbs energy when bending and releases it during lifting, providing up to 25 kg of relief to the lumbar spine. The device operates without batteries or motors, weighs approximately 4 kg, and has an intuitive sizing system. A purely mechanical control unit at the hip distinguishes between bending and walking, automatically deactivating the assist while walking for full freedom of movement. The level of support is continuously adjustable via a rotary knob. It can be donned in about 20 seconds.
