Can Apple Home’s AI camera features outsmart Amazon’s and Google’s? I put them to the test
A few years back, I was at a beachside Easter egg hunt, watching my kids dash through sand dunes searching for sweet treats. My phone buzzed in my pocket; I ignored it. A moment later, it buzzed again. I pulled it out, glanced down, and saw a "motion detected" notification from my security camera. "Just […]

Dexterous Hands Don't Have to Wait for AGI: A Physical AI Deployment Roadmap That's Been Misread
Unitree Dex5-S packs 22 active degrees of freedom into a 39,900-yuan package, and the market cheers 'humanoid robots coming home—countdown to zero.' But treating shipment volume as work output, degrees of freedom as dexterity, and the home as the largest market represents three systemic misreadings. The true logic of dexterous hands is layered value realization according to 'brain capacity'—hardware determines capability ceiling, data determines what can actually be done now. Industrial enumerable scenarios do not require universal AGI, but household complex long-tail tasks are highly dependent on it.

Mexican EPICS in IEEE Team Builds Portable Educational Platform
In Guadalajara, Mexico, many high schools have motivated teachers and talented students with an interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, but they lack access to advanced tools such as robotics laboratories. The resources shortfall limits the students’ opportunities for hands-on learning on cutting-edge applications. A team from ITESO, Universidad Jesuita de Guadalajara , is working to change that. Through the EPICS in IEEE initiative, a multidisciplinary group of 15 engi…

SeeAct AI's Mu Yao: The Endgame of Embodied AI Must Go from "Being Trained" to "Self-Evolution" | Physical AI 50
What robots truly lack is not data, but experience. Author: Li Qiuyue. Editor: Wu Tong. It was the bleakest time for embodied AI. No mature datasets, no standardized benchmarks, not even a validated technical pathway. Mu Yao went south to Hong Kong University to pursue a doctorate and began researching embodied AI. In 2021, Mu Yao joined HKUMMLab, becoming a student jointly advised by the lab's founder Professor Luo Ping and Tang Xiaou, one of the pioneers of Chinese artificial intelligence. "Embodied AI will be a very promising direction," his advisors said when he first joined the group—a phrase Mu Yao still remembers today. Four years later, the potential of this direction began to be validated in Mu Yao's own research. RoboTwin, led by Mu Yao, became one of the de facto standards in China's embodied AI community, garnering over 2,900 stars on GitHub, with both Ant Group's LingBot-VA and Newtera's Motubrain racing to set new benchmarks on it. He himself was selected for a national-level youth talent program, became a tenured-track assistant professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and his Google Scholar citations exceed 5,000. In 2026, Mu Yao made a more radical choice: he bet on "embodied self-evolution" and founded SeeAct AI. He offered a remarkably clear judgment: "The final form of embodied AI will inevitably move toward reward-driven self-evolution." This judgment is consistent with what he pursued when pursuing a master's degree at Tsinghua in 2018…
