Overview

Charlie is a legged robot inspired by chimpanzees that can switch between quadrupedal and bipedal locomotion. Equipped with a mechanical spine that bends in multiple directions and measures applied forces and torque, with feet containing embedded tactile sensors. The robot was developed as part of DFKI's intelligent structures project to research control approaches for different types of walking and provide insight into human locomotion evolution.
