Why Aurora Driver trended in Q2 2026
Moved to fully driverless commercial hauls with McLane on the Dallas to Houston freight corridor.
Aurora advanced to fully driverless commercial hauls in the quarter, running loads for McLane on the Dallas-to-Houston corridor without a safety driver on board. For one of the most-watched and heavily capitalized names in autonomous trucking, crossing into driver-out operations was the threshold its roadmap had long pointed to.
Doing it with McLane, a major distributor, matters as much as the technology: it signals a real shipper willing to move freight on a driverless lane rather than in a demonstration.
Aurora's challenge now mirrors the rest of the sector — turning a proven corridor into scale. Investors will watch how quickly driver-out miles grow and whether the economics hold once the novelty of the first lane fades.
#5 in the Autonomous vehicles for the Q2 2026 report — a new entry this quarter.
