Why WeRide Robotaxi GXR trended in Q2 2026
Expanded robotaxi service with Uber across Madrid, Zurich and Dubai, and signed a deal to mass-produce a right-hand-drive robotaxi.
WeRide used partnerships to extend its robotaxi footprint well beyond China during the quarter. Working with Uber, the company brought its GXR robotaxi to new cities including Madrid, Zurich and Dubai, plugging its vehicles into Uber's demand rather than building a standalone ride-hailing brand in each market.
It also signed a deal to mass-produce a right-hand-drive robotaxi — a practical step toward markets, such as the UK and parts of Asia, that most autonomous fleets have not been engineered for.
The Uber-partnership model is WeRide's bet: fast geographic reach without owning the customer relationship. The trade-off to watch is dependence — presence in many cities is easy to announce, but sustained ride volume and margin under a partner's app are harder to prove.
#7 in the Autonomous vehicles for the Q2 2026 report — a new entry this quarter.
