Modular robotic-assisted surgery system bringing surgical choice and flexibility to hospitals
Medtronic's Hugo RAS (Robotic-Assisted Surgery) system is a modular, multi-quadrant surgical robot designed for minimally invasive soft tissue procedures. The system features a modular design allowing surgeons to use only the robotic arms needed for specific procedures. Hugo received FDA clearance for urologic surgical procedures in December 2025 and performed its first U.S. commercial surgery in February 2026 at Cleveland Clinic. The system is integrated with Medtronic's Touch Surgery AI-powered ecosystem. Hugo competes directly with da Vinci in the surgical robotics market and is positioned as an alternative offering greater flexibility and accessibility.
