Overview
REX is a hands-free robotic exoskeleton designed for rehabilitation of people with mobility impairments, including severe disabilities such as spinal cord injury and hemiplegia from stroke or traumatic brain injury. It provides powered assistance for standing, walking forwards/backwards/sideways, turning, and predefined exercises (squats, lunges, sit-to-stand, leg swings, stretches). The device uses 10 custom linear actuators, 27 onboard microprocessors, and proprietary control code to deliver stable motion for users up to 100 kg. It is designed for use in rehabilitation centres and hospitals under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
