YK-XG Series

Overview

The YK-XG Series SCARA robot has a completely beltless structure with a direct connection to the speed reduction gear, achieving high rigidity, high speed, and high accuracy. It is used for assembling, handling, and transferring large automotive components, as well as for precision assembly in electronics and small machines.

Flagship features

  • Unique selling point: Completely beltless structure (ZR axis direct coupling) for high rigidity, high accuracy, and maintenance-free operation over extended periods
  • Unique selling point: High R-axis allowable moment of inertia — significantly higher than competitors for the same class, enabling high-speed operation even with large load offsets
  • Unique selling point: Zone Control function automatically sets optimal max acceleration/deceleration based on arm folded/extended state, protecting motor and reducer
  • History: First Yamaha robot (SCARA model "CAME") introduced in 1979; the YK-XG series benefits from over 30 years of SCARA innovation
  • Maintenance: Harmonic drive is grease-sealed — no grease replacement needed (models YK-500XG to YK1000XG)
  • Compact design: cable height lower than unit cover; smallest dimensions in its class

Additional Information
- Unique selling point: Completely beltless structure (ZR axis direct coupling) for high rigidity, high accuracy, and maintenance-free operation over extended periods. - Unique selling point: High R-axis allowable moment of inertia — significantly higher than competitors for the same class, enabling high-speed operation even with large load offsets. - Unique selling point: Resolver-based closed-loop position detection — rugged, no electronic components, resistant to temperature, impact, electrical noise, dust, and oil. Works as absolute or incremental encoder via parameter change. - Unique selling point: Zone Control function automatically sets optimal max acceleration/deceleration based on arm folded/extended state, protecting motor and reducer. - History: First Yamaha robot (SCARA model "CAME") introduced in 1979; the YK-XG series benefits from over 30 years of SCARA innovation. - Maintenance: Harmonic drive is grease-sealed — no grease replacement needed (models YK-500XG to YK1000XG). - Compact design: cable height lower than unit cover; smallest dimensions in its class. - Options: Hollow shaft and tool flange available for easy wiring and tool clamping (except YK250XG/YK350XG/YK400XG/YK500XGL/YK600XGL). - Controller: Paired with RCX340/RCX341 multi-axis controllers. - Known limitation: Beltless structure note excludes large model YK1200X which still uses belts.
