Hospitals announcing new da Vinci 5 systems drove much of the coverage, alongside a Yahoo Finance question about Intuitive's next upgrade cycle.
The da Vinci 5 drew attention this quarter mostly through hospitals announcing new systems. Northside announced new systems, and Providence Portland, Womack and KU Ansan Hospital were reported to be adding the robot. What's Up Newp reported that Newport Hospital is the first in Rhode Island with the system.
The investor angle came from Yahoo Finance, which asked in August whether the da Vinci 5 can drive Intuitive's next multi-year upgrade cycle.
That question remains open. Hospital announcements show the system spreading, but they do not show how fast existing da Vinci customers are moving to the new model.
